Airlines, now more than ever, are stepping up their security measures with most passengers more concerned about safety, while some continue to take advantage of the system, ignoring the rules and regulations with unwanted, aggressive behavior.
Firstly, many passengers have neglected to follow the basic rules of air travel and have acted out due to their frustration, with an airline’s policies, excessive waiting times, or other delays. On top of the long delay times, inexperienced staff are just as guilty, with haughty treatment of passengers, resulting in unnecessary tensions among fliers becoming more and more common.
It’s time for the rest of us to stand up against these bullies in the sky. To ensure safety and a positive flying experience, passengers should take the lead by keeping calm and diplomatic when faced with unruly passengers. Flight attendants and other cabin crew must also be aware and respond to any inappropriate behavior, immediately, by politely enforcing regulations and keeping passengers calm.
It’s also important to inform authorities about the incident so that an action can be taken on the spots to limit the potential of further issues. Airlines need to take the initiative and begin a more aggressive campaign to educate passengers on the importance of adhering to the regulations that are in place.
Finally, airlines should hire more staff and recruit better-trained personnel to ensure that passengers do not feel neglected or ignored and that customer service remains a priority. With safety and a pleasant flying experience paramount, it’s up to us to keep the bully at 30000 feet in check.
