2020 Debate Claims Coming Back to Haunt Biden as GOP Probes into Hunter Swirl
Election season witchcraft has taken an eerie twist as we continue into the middle of November. Claim made during the Vice Presidential debate last month have come back to haunt a tentative Joe Biden as Republican legislators dig through Hunter Biden’s financial affairs to see if any foul play was present.
During the debate, Vice President Mike Pence brought up the claim of money Hunter had received from a Ukrainian energy company. Joe Biden’s response was a one-word denial: “False.” However, recent reports are claiming that Joe Biden may not have been aware of all the facts. Indeed, emails disclosed this week imply that Hunter Biden did indeed receive payments from Burisma, the Ukrainian company Pence criticized, and Joe Biden’s knowledge of it was uncertain.
With 2020’s race already lodged as a tight battle, here comes yet another shock. After denying information his own party was reportedly aware of during the debate, reports are claiming that the Biden campaign was apparently uncomfortable with it being discussed. A law firm owned by the Biden’s, Burchfield & Associates, served as a representative for Hunter Biden and openly negotiated with Burisma.
The unfortunate implications of Biden’s silence are certainly clear. As soon as a candidate makes an affirmation of any kind, they inevitably signify their allegiance with the words spoken. Biden’s well-known refusal to condemn his son’s actions further reinforces this notion.
The GOP, hoping to dig up the truth in the weeks before Election Day to potentially disqualify Biden as president, Is taking full advantage of the opportunity with legislative investigations regarding Hunter Biden. Is Biden guilty of any wrongdoing or collusion? Only time will tell.
In the meantime, Joe Biden can’t continue to remain silent if he wants to save face in the eyes of an already divided nation. All he can do after a campaign of critique for Donald Trump is a policy of ‘Lie, Deny, and Counter Accuse’. That’s not ideal, when a decision like this will make or break the 2020 election and your presidency.
It’s always a mistake to lie or not address claims on the debate floor and Biden is quickly learning that. In mishandling this situation it may prove once again: silence is always the wrong move.
