Donald Trump has recently been seen seething at a federal gag order in a case involving his campaign, and while the order is vexing to the president, his campaign team is reportedly “relishing” it.
The order, granted by a federal judge in the case brought byfour campaign allies, was meant to put a stop to a “string of show-stopping public statements” made by the Trump team. The order prohibits anyone involved in the case from speaking to anyone outside the legal team, in order to better manage the case, however, Trump himself may be excluded from the gag order due to his status as president.
The judge in the case reportedly issued the gag order after it was determined that some of the statements made by the Trump campaign could potentially “undermine the administration of justice”. This is not the first time that Trump’s campaign team has been accused of making public statements that could be viewed as interfering with the judicial process, but this particular case seems to have left Trump with no other choice but to comply with the order.
From the beginning, Trump and his campaign team have been adamant that they would follow the judge’s orders in this matter, despite his previous public statements. Trump has largely remained quiet on the issue, however, his campaign team has reportedly been celebrating the order as it gives them the opportunity to remain silent and avoid further controversy.
Needless to say, this is indeed a rare situation for the Trump Campaign and it remains to be seen how they will react moving forward. As the case progresses, the judge’s gag order will undoubtedly be a determining factor in the outcome of the case. Whether or not Trump and his team will indeed comply with the judge’s order in a meaningful way remains to be seen.
