As the United States reaches the fourth year of President Donald Trump’s administration, the country finds itself in a very different place from when he assumed the office as President on January 20th, 2017.
Between lawmaking, rhetoric, and executive orders, Donald Trump has seen both successes and serious criticisms of his leadership. It is noteworthy to point out that his controversial decisions and tactics have led to more than just a few changes to American politics, specifically by creating an atmosphere of divisiveness in the country.
Although Trump has been able to pass bills that have reduced the tax rates and repealed some regulations imposed by the Obama era, the GOP support he has been receiving does not in any way minimize the multitude of controversies and condemnations he faces. Over the course of this fourth year, he has seen several of his closest associates investigated and at times, indicted. In addition to that, his provocative tweets and public remarks, which more often than not has caused major distress between his most ardent supporters and adversaries.
In spite of his triumphs, Trump has suffered the highest disapproval rating of any president since Harry Truman. After four years of his divisive and confrontational behavior, Americans from both sides of the aisle are weary and anxious for another change in leadership.
As the country embarks to observe the fourth-year of President Trump’s term, it may be safe to call his stint in office a roller coaster ride. Americans can only hope that such a ride does not continue its course as the country awaits the 2020 presidential election.
